This shop is the one stop shop for all tennis enthusiasts. It is a very well known shop in the tennis players' community.
They are the official distributors of Wilson, Yonex, Babolat, Head, and Prince racquets. But the store particularly sells Wilson, Yonex and Babolat racquets. The price here is competitive, and there isn't a need to haggle too much. Buying a racquet here comes with a free string of choice (usually synthetic guts only). They have a good stock pile, so usually you'll always have ready stock for the model you want.
Another primary business of this shop is stringing. They are very well known for their good stringing. The boss, as we fondly call Uncle Eric, is a professional stringer with many years of experience. He has strung for top pros like Andre Agassi before. Transworld sports is also the official stringer for ATP tournaments like Heineken Open Singapore, and STA sanctioned tournaments like STA Intermediate Juniors and ITF Satellite series matches.
They are also official distributors/resellers of several string brands including but not limited to Wilson, Signum Pro, Gamma, Luxilon and Babolat. They have many other string choices to cater for all the other needs. They string on the Babolat Star 5 machine, which is one of the best and accurate machines in the market.
Besides racquets and strings, the shop sells an extensive selection of racquet bags as well as tennis accessories like balls, grips, overgrips, dampeners, ball hoppers, bumper tape, lead tape and so on. Tennis apparel and shoes are also available in Transworld.
Finally there is a corner where you can drop in your racquets for sale/ pick up a used racquet, for a very decent price indeed. Transworld will just act as a proxy for this service, and it is free.
I have bought 3 racquets thus far from them, and have been very satisfied. Their racquets are genuine and in good condition. They will give out the warranty cards duely stamped and filled in. Price wise, you can talk to Uncle Eric, and sometimes he will be able to give some discounts. If you're a frequent customer, you usually get discounts straightaway.
As for stringing, Uncle Eric is the most experienced in the shop. His stringing is very professionally done, and very consistent.Knots are cinched up nicely, and there is no damage to the strings. He will also provide you with good string choice advice, based on his experience. You just have to tell him what type of player you are, and what budget you have in mind.
The two other stringers are okay, but sometimes get sloppy with their stringjobs.
One thing is that the shop gets A LOT of racquets to be restrung in a day, so you'll most probably not be able to get your racquet strung on the spot, unless you buy a new racquet with them. But it is worth the wait. You can also specifically request Uncle Eric to do the stringing.
Overall, I enjoy my experiences to the shop. Only that sometimes, they get very busy, and if you don't seem interested, or you don't seem like a tennis player, you might be ignored. That's the unfriendly part of the shop. Just talk to the Uncle (spectacles), and you will know that they are actually quite friendly.
Price of stringing is very reasonable, price of racquets reasonable. Good string jobs, and good choice of tennis accessories. Thumbs up!
