I took up this True Spa package in June and so far only managed to use it twice! My 1st appointment was made through this consultant of mine, Bryan, and he didn’t even call me back to inform if my booking was confirmed. I have to call him twice and he said there would be an arrangement.
As there was no news from him, I decided to make a booking myself through the reception counter. They confirmed for me a 12pm slot on a Thurs. However, I got a call reminder about my appt on Wed in which the time was 12.30pm. I was puzzled since I wanted the 12pm timing. Only then I realized that Bryan had actually booked for me an appt for 12.30pm without informing me and thus I had a double booking! I explained to the recep and she confirmed with me the 12pm appt. and cancelled the 12.30pm slot.
When I went for my first massage session on Thurs, I was told off by my masseur that I was late for half an hour since my appt should be 12pm. It’s quite irritating since she kept insisting that I was late. I denied on the spot and suggested to her to feedback this to the management. I didn’t blame the lady since no one informed her about the change of time. That was quite an unhappy experience and this was only the beginning.
After finishing this session, I decided to book through counter as I don’t feel like depending on my consultants. It was 17 July 08 and I was told the bookings for the next three weekends of Aug was fully booked! But, that was not what my other consultant, Yuki told me. She was very sure I will be able to get a slot if I book two weeks in advance. There I was, one month in advance to book for Aug and there was not a single slot!
Yuki was there at the counter and she looked shocked (SO FAKE) that the appt for weekends was taken up so fast. I had left with no choice but to book the 23 Aug & 30 Aug appt. I can only go for Saturdays since Mon – Fri was at work plus Sunday I just wish to stay at home. The recep asked me to call them on the 2nd week of August to confirm if my appt was taken in. Even if you booked through the counter in advance, it was not considered a valid slot as they need to wait for the monthly timetable.
I gave the recep a ring to check my bookings on 11th Aug and for two whole days, no one picked up! It’s not like the line was engaged it just rang and rang. At times, the line just went dead as if someone actually picked and hung up my call. Exasperated, I called Yuki to see if she can help me check my booking but was told that she can’t do anything since it was booked through counter directly. I told her no one picked up my call, all she said was for me to call again and giving lame excuses saying the recep might be on the line. When I asked if they ever check the caller id and get back to members, she said their Co. doesn’t have caller id. WOW! Can you believe that?
I was fuming mad right then and decided to go down personally to confirm the booking. I told Bryan I wanted to do a chocolate bath and massage with a friend of mine on 23rd Aug and a hydro bath, massage and scrub with my hubby on 30th Aug. He said he will make an arrangement on that. When we were there last Sat, the recep had some difficulties searching for my bookings. She led me to the waiting hall and a consultant came to serve me since Bryan was at the new Cuppage branch. When I told him we had booked a chocolate bath and all, he laughed. After which he mentioned chocolate bath was only available at Cuppage and not Taka. Okay, so everyone is telling me different things. Next, the recep managed to arrange an hour of massage for us and we got no choice but to take it.
Yuki then came to attend to us, telling us she had checked with Bryan and indeed he booked for us but the appt just DISAPPEARED from their system. As they were changing a new system, some bookings might not have captured. I was speechless. It was real embarrassing since my friend came all the way from home to meet me and that whole day was spoilt just like that. Yuki had also confirmed with me my next booking on 30th was at Cuppage.
On Mon, I called Bryan to confirm again if my appt is on for tomorrow. He said yes. I called him back again to double confirm and this time round make sure it’s a couple room for my hubby and I. Bryan then told me that he only booked two treatments for each of us excluding the hydro bath. Both the hydro bath and foot spa facilities were not yet ready at the Cuppage branch. If that’s the case why was the Cuppage branch even opened in the first place? He would have known this long time ago, and upon receiving my bookings, he would try to book the Taka branch right?
Bryan once mentioned that True Spa was ranking No. 3 in Singapore under this Spa industry. I personally think it’s not even worth a rank, with this kind of poor service. Their massages were not at all fantastic, receptionists always looked confused and consultants who don’t know their own product and kept giving lame excuses. So guys please do not sign or recommend anyone to True Spa. Don’t waste your time here coz they SUCKS! All of them!

i took a 3 yr package in jun 2007 from the taka branch and has only been there a couple of times since.
it has been several mths from my last visit and when i tried ringing them for a visit this week, the phone went unanswered for days. alarm rings were going off in my head and i feared they have closed for business.
i just called true'est which is next door and was given the number for true spa cuppage branch 62359555.
thank god i managed to get thru' that number easily and just made an appointment for tomorrow.
the true spa website has no details of this branch which is also undergoing renovation and has no hydrobath facilities. the hours are 9am to 9pm now but it'll be extended to 11pm when fully renovated.
for now, i just hope that i will have no problems finding their place tomorrow and can finish my package as quickly as possible to minimise any financial loss.
i have another package with rustic nirvana bought in 2002 and though i have to book my appointments wks in advance, at least i never have to worry about them going out of business.
i was attracted to true spa as the location was more accessible than cantonment road when i take public transport.
here's hoping everyone who got the true spa package can get to finish using it and not have to go through the same frustration as me : )

Visited True Spa for the 2nd time and got a decent massage, my friendly therapist must've been their only saving grace. I haven't read the previous reviews, if I'd read them I'd've never signed up 2 months ago.
I waited a MONTH to get this appointment. It just so happened that I was free on a weekday and they answered their phone after THREE days of calling and me phoning True Yoga at Raffles City to tell them, "your branch is not answering the phone." Last month when I tried to book, I was put on the waiting list and nobody ever called me back. They kept saying they would call a week before the appointment to confirm but the confirmation never came. The consultant gave me her handphone number but she has NEVER answered the phone in her life. I brought all my documents (spa contract, receipts, etc) today because I planned to go directly to CASE if they did not give me the slot I requested.
I don't think it is unreasonable to say True Spa's the lousiest excuse for a Spa I've ever been to. I've been to the Aspara chain, St Regis, etc. But never have my towels smelt of renovation(which they're undergoing) and I've never had problems making a booking at other spas. Previously when I tried to book they said they were full, I thought that was fine. Then they told me their Couples' Rooms were undergoing refurbishment and I had to wait. So I waited.
The consultant had the cheek to tell me that I had to book 3 weeks in advance for the Couples' Room. So I went and booked 3 weeks in advance, but they said they could not confirm because "the next month's booking slots have not opened." But they STILL could not confirm anything even just 5 days prior to the timing booked! (I had been calling them DAILY) They claimed they were "upgrading the computer system." I think someone who'd never used a computer before would've probably been able to allocate slots MUCH faster using pen and paper! Each time I called they'd say it would be known the next day. Eventually I asked whether they had slots the next day and they gave me a slot which I took. (If I hadn't taken it, God knows how long I'd have to wait)
Mind you, it wasn't always like this. Before I joined True Spa and bought the package , they would always say I was free to come ANY TIME for my complimentary massage. I was informed by my consultant that they had 4 Couples Rooms ("so we never have a shortage!") and 15 other treatment rooms ("see, because we want our members to have enough slots, we work 365 days a year just call us to book and we will answer") when I signed up. But those things never happened, and the consultant (at least he was polite and seemed willing to help enough) left, so they gave me this other lady who I have only spoken to ONCE in my life, when she called to say "there are no slots for you, you should book 3 weeks in advance."
So sometimes I really wonder if True Spa can be brought to CASE. In their defense, they can say they're just full. But I also think that since so many people have so many complaints, what True Spa is doing can be considered more or less equivalent to cheating individual consumers of their money since we aren't allowed to use what we've paid for. It's as good as them running away with people's money, for what good is a spa package that cannot be used? Even if they say it is simply because they have difficulties, fact remains that they never conveyed any issues to members. Imagine, if a bank employee or lawyer takes your money then refuses to answer the phone, says you can't make an appointment to withdraw it, and you don't ever get to use the services, isn't that enough to give you the impression he ran away with your money?
What's the difference between being there and avoiding your customers, and taking their money and running? None to the consumer, as far as they're concerned. How are they supposed to know you haven't fled the country? The only thing True Spa hasn't done is shut down their main office, because it sure seems like they've shut down their phones and computers. (because even if those things are there, the staff aren't confirming bookings on them, and apparently they think phones are ringing accessories not meant to be answered)
I wouldn't be surprised if one day we find that the 16th floor of Ngee Ann City has become a blank space and everything's disappeared. If a company, spa or organization can't even guarantee they're not cheating customers of their money, then what credibility do they have left? There's no guarantee they won't just disappear or close down. For goodness sake, even spas in the heartlands ANSWER their phones and confirm bookings! True Spa can't even compare to your neighbourhood spa (which would probably not give you the impression you're being cheated), much less compete with the likes of The Aspara, The Asian Spa, or St Regis' Remede Spa (which only ask for a credit card guarantee, and don't get you to pay beforehand- the prices aren't really worth the difference either for the rubbish you get at True Spa); because no matter how good your therapists or rooms are, everything's trash if you can't provide decent service by answering your phone, treating people right, and letting them BOOK slots for treatments they have already paid for. (a joke: the consultant I spoke to had never heard of St Regis, and said "you think their service will be better than ours?" my reply: "they're a 6-star spa with prices DOUBLE what you're offering me, and that's with an invitation card. what d'you think?")
Oh but for first-timers who got invited for the complimentary massage? Don't worry, they'll definitely be around for you! After all, how can True Spa deny another poor gullible person (like me, and so many others) the opportunity to buy a package (read: be cheated), try to make a booking (read: make them distressed and frustrated), tell them there's no slots (read: pretend they didn't cheat their money and make it look legitimate), make them book 3 weeks in advance and not confirm (let them wait, hopefully they'll forget about the money they lost) then finally give them a booking (so they don't go to CASE or take legal action) and let the cycle start all over again?
Cheers to waiting another 3 weeks for my next appointment, and for the whole process to repeat itself. So if you're looking to be distressed, angered, stood up, given a massage, and then to go through the whole thing all over again (ie. cheated) I'd say True Spa's the place for you. Then again, I think no one's that dumb.
p.s. i take down EVERY single time i called, the names of who i spoke to, etc. In case anyone wants to go to CASE (i probably will eventually) or if anyone wants to file a suit and needs more evidence. it'd be great if someone could record their phone calls, which i think everyone should really do.
